The app is a full server: whatever manifest it holds is served at /live on its port, alongside the classic Socket.IO events. Field data is saved on your Mac and survives restarts.
- Start the server in Slash Socket. It serves the starter manifest until you give it one.
- Give it a manifest: in the Fields tab, Import JSON… — or define the socket on slash.tools (Dashboard → Socket) with Runs on set to this Mac, and it arrives with the next check-in (Domain → Check Now to fetch it now).
- Connect a page with the import line from Fields → Connect a page.
To reach it from the internet, the Mac needs a way in. Slash Socket offers two, and the Overview's Public access row tells you which link is broken when one isn't working — see Reaching the internet.
Pages served over https can only open wss:// connections. A tunnel gives you that for free; port forwarding needs a certificate, which Slash Socket gets from Let's Encrypt once a domain points at your Mac.
