Quick Type lets visitors jump to a page just by typing a word — no need to open the launcher first. Start typing anywhere outside a form field and, if the letters match a configured keyword, a hint overlay appears showing the autocompleted word. Finish the match and Slash navigates automatically. This is the same concept as the keyword-navigation feature on astrit.co (there it's called "Focus") — Quick Type is that same interaction, packaged as a Slash for Web feature.
It's opt-in and off by default. Enable it by passing a quickType config to the Slash element, mapping each keyword to a destination.

export function App() { return ( <Slash apiKey={process.env.SLASH_API_KEY} quickType={{ enabled: true, keywords: { HOME: { action: 'navigate', target: '/' }, DOCS: { action: 'navigate', target: '/docs' }, PRICING: { action: 'navigate', target: '/pricing' }, SEARCH: { action: 'open-launcher' } } }} /> )}Each keystroke is checked against every keyword's prefix. As soon as the typed letters no longer match any keyword, the sequence resets — so mistyping doesn't leave you stuck waiting. The sequence also resets on Escape, Backspace, or after 2 seconds of inactivity. Quick Type ignores keystrokes entirely while focus is inside an input, textarea, select, or any contenteditable element, so it never interferes with normal typing or forms.
- Only plain A–Z letter keys count toward a sequence — modifier combinations (⌘, ⌃, ⌥, ⇧) and non-letter keys are ignored
- The hint overlay shows the full keyword with letters typed so far highlighted, so the rest reads as an inline autocomplete
- A keyword resolves the instant the typed sequence matches it exactly — no Enter key needed
- Multiple keywords can share a prefix (e.g. DOCS and DOWNLOAD) — Quick Type narrows the match as more letters are typed
Each keyword entry supports two actions: navigate to a route, or open the launcher itself (useful for a memorable keyword like SEARCH or FIND as an alternative to the ⌘K shortcut).
